Side Pots
Side pots add extra competition and excitement to your tournaments. Director supports five types of side pots with full management from creation to payout.
Side Pot Types
High Game
The bowler with the single highest game wins. Ties split the pot. You can configure multiple payout positions (e.g., top 3).
High Series
The bowler with the highest total pinfall across all games wins. Works the same as High Game but uses the series total.
Brackets
Head-to-head bracket competition. Bowlers are paired randomly (or seeded by average), and the higher score advances each round. See the Brackets & Match Play guide for bracket tree details.
Eliminator
After each game, the lowest-scoring bowler(s) are eliminated. The last bowler standing wins. Great for adding drama game by game.
Mystery Doubles
Bowlers are randomly paired after all games are bowled. The combined score of each pair determines the winners. No one knows their partner until results are revealed.
Creating a Side Pot
Open Side Pots
Navigate to your tournament and tap the Side Pots section, or create one during the tournament wizard (Step 5).
Configure the Side Pot
Set the type, name, buy-in price, payout positions, and options like scratch only or multi-entry allowed.
Save
Tap Save to create the side pot. It will appear in the tournament's side pot list and on the global Side Pots dashboard.
Managing Entrants
Tap a side pot to see its entrant list. You can add or remove bowlers from the pot, and the prize pool updates automatically based on the buy-in and entry count.
Bracket Visualization
For bracket-type side pots, Director displays a visual bracket tree showing matchups, scores, and advancement. See the Brackets & Match Play guide for details.
Finalizing & Paying Out
When the tournament is complete, Director auto-calculates the winners based on scores. Review the results, then tap Finalize to lock in the winners. Use the paid/unpaid toggle to track payouts.
Global Side Pots Dashboard
The Side Pots tab in the bottom navigation shows all side pots across all your tournaments in one place. Filter by tournament, type, or status (open/finalized) for a complete overview.
Tip
Mystery Doubles are a great way to add fun to any tournament. Since pairs are random, every bowler has a shot at winning regardless of skill level.
