Tournament Sense ("we," "our," or "us") operates a suite of mobile and web applications for the bowling community: Tournament Sense: Bowling, Tournament Sense: Coach, and Tournament Sense: Director (collectively, "the Apps"). We are committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal information. This policy outlines how your data is collected, used, stored, and protected across all three applications.
1. Applications Covered
This Privacy Policy applies to:
- Tournament Sense: Bowling — A personal bowling companion for tracking events, games, statistics, coaching assignments, and finances. Available on iOS and Android.
- Tournament Sense: Coach — A coaching CRM for managing students, tracking sessions, generating reports, and assigning drills. Available on iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows.
- Tournament Sense: Director — A tournament and league management platform for registration, scoring, standings, side pots, and financial tracking. Available on iOS, Android, Web, macOS, and Windows.
2. Data Collection and Usage
Our Apps are designed with a "local-first" approach. Your bowling data — including scores, statistics, financial records, coaching notes, and tournament information — is stored on your device by default. We collect and process personal data only when necessary to provide core app functionality:
- Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name for authentication purposes via Firebase Authentication.
- Bowling Data: Scores, statistics, event records, coaching session data, and financial records are stored locally on your device. If you enable cloud sync (Pro feature), this data is also stored in our cloud database.
- Subscription Data: If you purchase a Pro subscription, we process your purchase through Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not directly collect or store your payment card information. Subscription status is managed through RevenueCat and synced to our servers.
- Cross-App Data: When you connect with a coach (Bowling app) or join a league/tournament (Director app), limited data is shared between apps to enable the integration. This includes your name, USBC number, average, and scores relevant to the connection.
- Usage Analytics: We may collect anonymous usage analytics to improve app performance and user experience. No personally identifiable information is included in analytics data.
3. Data Encryption and Security
Security is a foundational priority across the entire Tournament Sense ecosystem. We employ multiple layers of encryption and access control:
- Local Encryption: All sensitive data stored on your device is encrypted using SQLCipher (AES-256 full-database encryption). Encryption keys are stored in your device's secure enclave (iOS Keychain or Android Keystore).
- Field-Level Encryption: Sensitive fields (financial data, personal contact information, coaching notes) are individually encrypted using AES encryption before being stored in the cloud.
- Transit Encryption: All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.
- Server-Side Security: Our cloud infrastructure (Google Firebase) enforces document-level ownership checks. Directors can only access their own tournaments. Coaches can only access their own students. Bowlers can only access their own data.
- Purchase Validation: All in-app purchases are validated server-side against Apple and Google APIs before activation to prevent fraud.
4. Cloud Sync (Pro Feature)
If you purchase and enable Pro cloud sync, your app data will be securely synced to our cloud servers (Google Firebase / Firestore). This service allows you to:
- Back up your data and restore it across devices
- Access your bowling data across devices
- Sync coaching reports and assignments between Coach and Bowling apps
- Sync tournament/league data between Director and Bowling apps
Cloud-synced data is encrypted both in transit and at rest. We do not use this data for any purpose other than providing the sync and integration services described in this policy.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. Data is shared only in the following circumstances:
- Coach-Bowler Integration: When you connect with a coach, your coach can view session data, scores, and progress reports that you explicitly share. You control sharing via in-app toggles.
- Director-Bowler Integration: When you join a league or tournament, the director can view your name, average, and scores for that event. Published standings may be publicly viewable via a shareable link.
- Service Providers: We use Google Firebase for cloud infrastructure, RevenueCat for subscription management, and Google AdMob for advertising in the free tier. These services process data according to their own privacy policies.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your data if required by law or in response to valid legal process.
6. Advertising
The free tier of Tournament Sense: Bowling displays banner advertisements via Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data for ad personalization according to Google's privacy policy. Pro subscribers enjoy a completely ad-free experience. The Coach and Director apps do not display advertisements.
7. Data Retention
Your data is retained for as long as you maintain an active account. Local data on your device is under your control and can be deleted at any time by uninstalling the app or clearing app data. Cloud-synced data is retained until you delete your account. Upon account deletion, all associated cloud data is permanently removed within 30 days.
8. Children's Privacy
Our Apps are not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you become aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict processing of your data
- Request a portable copy of your data
