Drill Library
The Drill Library gives you a collection of predefined bowling drills organized by category, plus the ability to create your own custom drills. Drills can be linked to assignments so students know exactly what to practice.
Predefined Categories
Tournament Sense Coach ships with drills organized into five focus categories:
- Strike & Spare — drills focused on hitting the pocket and converting spares consistently.
- Approach & Release — footwork, timing, and release mechanics exercises.
- Hand Position — wrist position, axis rotation, and tilt adjustment drills.
- Ball Selection — exercises for learning when and how to change equipment.
- Lane Reading — drills that develop the ability to read oil breakdown and make adjustments.
Creating a Custom Drill
Tap + New Drill to build your own drill from scratch.
Name & Focus Area
Give the drill a descriptive name and select a focus area category. Custom drills appear alongside the predefined ones.
Description
Write a brief overview explaining the purpose and goal of the drill.
Equipment Needed
List any equipment required — specific ball types, towels, training aids, etc.
Instructions
Write step-by-step instructions the student should follow during the drill.
Success Criteria
Define what success looks like — for example, "Convert 7 out of 10 single-pin spares" or "Maintain consistent 4-step approach timing for 3 games."
Common Mistakes
Optionally note common mistakes to watch for. This helps students self-correct when practicing alone.
Duration
Set an estimated duration for how long the drill should take (e.g., 15 minutes, 30 minutes).
Using Drills in Assignments
When creating an assignment, you can link any drill from your library. The linked drill's full instructions, success criteria, and common mistakes will be visible to the student within the assignment. This keeps everything in one place and saves you from rewriting instructions.
Tip
Build a library of your go-to drills over time. Having a well-stocked drill library makes creating assignments quick and consistent across all your students.
Searching Drills
Use the search bar at the top of the Drill Library to find drills by name or keyword. You can also filter by category using the category tabs. Both predefined and custom drills are included in search results.
