Getting Started with Tournament Sense Bowling
Tournament Sense Bowling helps you track scores, manage leagues and tournaments, analyze your performance, and improve your game. This guide walks you from first launch to your first scored game in about five minutes.
Creating Your Account
An account is required so your data syncs across devices and connects with your coach or tournament director when you opt in. Cloud backup is free for everyone.
Open the App
Launch Tournament Sense Bowling. You will land on a welcome screen with a list of features and two buttons.
Tap Create Account
Tap Create Account. If you already have a Tournament Sense account from another app (Coach, Director, Pro Shop), tap Sign in instead — the same email and password works everywhere.
Enter Your Details
Provide your full name, email address, and choose a password (at least 6 characters). Confirm your password.
Accept the Legal Agreements
Check the boxes for the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, then tap Sign Up. We send a verification email automatically — you can verify it later from My Account.
Profile Setup Wizard
After signing up, the Profile Setup Wizard helps you tell the app how you bowl so reports and tools are tailored to you. Most steps are optional — tap Skip at any time.

About You
Confirm your bowler name (pre-filled from sign-up). Pick your bowling hand (right or left), thumb usage (thumb / no thumb), grip style (conventional, fingertip, or semi-fingertip), delivery (one-handed or two-handed), and bowling format (tenpin, candlepin, or baker). Optionally pick your home bowling center from the autocomplete search of 2,000+ U.S. centers.
Import Data (optional)
Coming from another app? Import your history from Bowlr, PinPal, or BowlSheet CSV exports. If your import includes balls, the wizard skips the next step.
Ball Arsenal (optional)
Add your bowling balls. Search the built-in ball database to auto-fill specs (weight, coverstock, layout details), or enter a custom ball manually. You can add more later from More > Arsenal.
Data Privacy
Your local database is automatically encrypted with SQLCipher. For extra protection on financial data (entry fees, winnings, expenses), you can enable AES-256 field-level encryption from this step or later under Settings > Financial Privacy.
All Set
Review your profile summary and tap Let's Bowl! to enter the app.
Your Home Screen
Your home screen is your personal dashboard:
- Quick Action Shortcuts — tiles to jump straight into a league session, tournament session, or other common tasks. Pro users can customize these from Settings > Home Shortcuts.
- Recent Activity — your latest sessions, scores, and stats highlights.
- Stats at a Glance — current averages and recent performance.
Navigation
On phones the app uses a bottom navigation bar with four tabs:
- Home — your dashboard with shortcuts, recent activity, and stats.
- Leagues — create and manage your league seasons and weekly sessions.
- Tournaments — track tournament events, scores, and results.
- More — practice, ball arsenal, oil patterns, partners, stats, expenses, settings, and every other tool.
On tablets and landscape, navigation switches to a sidebar with categorized sections (Tracking, Tools, Connect, Pro).
Score Your First Game
The fastest way to bowl a game right now — no league or tournament required:
Open Practice
Tap More and then Practice.
Tap the + Button
Tap the round + button at the bottom right. The app creates a one-game practice session that inherits your last-used center, oil pattern, and lane surface, then drops you straight into frame entry. Long-press the + button if you want the full setup form for multi-game sessions.
Enter Frames
Tap the pins you knocked down or use the keypad to enter your score. Strikes auto-advance the frame. The 10th frame handles bonus balls automatically.
Tip — Skip score entry entirely
Pro users can scan the overhead monitor with their camera using TS Vision. It works with both projected scoring and orange dot-matrix monitors.
Leagues, Tournaments & Joining Events
For real bowling — leagues and tournaments — start from the matching tab:
- League Session — open the Leagues tab and tap + to create a league. Inside the league, start a weekly session whenever you bowl.
- Tournament Session — open the Tournaments tab and tap + to create a tournament event, choose your event format and number of games, then score.
- Join an Event — to join a tournament or league hosted by a director using Tournament Sense Director, tap More > Discover, scan the director's QR code, or tap an invite link.
Tip — Multi-device, automatic sync
Sign in on as many devices as you like with the same account; your data appears everywhere. When you opt in to share, scores also flow to your coach's app and any tournament director you've registered with.
